Heres 1 program what you can use to make .avi files to .gif files... So make video file to .gif file. It doesnt give so good quality but still useful to make animations to sigs

people i used to make them to.. ill show one soon.. but you canalso put a little movie file in (quick time) also know as .mov good luck and Great Tutorial!!!!
